Erik Morillo Arrested (Same airport as Dallas Austin) & Grooverider Pardoned

Erick Morillo arrested with cocaine

Erick Morillo was arrested at Glasgow airport in Scotland on charges of cocaine possession. Morillo claimed innocence in the court of Paisley Sheriff and was released on bail, but he must submit to trial in March.

Famous by countless sets in Brazil, for his work with Stricly Rhythm and the anthem "I Like To Move It Move It" (recorded as Reel 2 Real), Morillo also owns the label Subliminal Records.

Calls from Oakenfold may have helped to free Grooverider in Dubai

Mixmag suggested in a recent reports that one of the main people responsible for the release of Grooverider was Paul Oakenfold, which helped convince the authorities of Dubai to grant pardon to the DJ ahead of schedule.

Grooverider was arrested in the airport of Dubai when police found “drugs” in his luggage. The DJ was scheduled to play in the city and was immediately arrested and remained there for nine months. He was one of 700 prisoners who received pardon from President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in celebration of Ramadan, a day sacred to Muslims, and already was seen passing free time with his family in England.

"I do not believe that is completely my fault, but I really made some phone calls ... I called a friend of mine who is a nephew of the queen of the United Arab Emirates. He told me he would do everything possible to help."

ALSO BAGGED IN DUBAI
One of the most notable cases was that of Dallas Austin, a Grammy-winning producer, who has spawned hits for the likes of Boyz II Men, Monica, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Pink and TLC, was detained by Dubai police on his way to supermodel Naomi Campbell’s party bash, after they found cocaine in his luggage. Austin was sentenced to four years and received support from U.S. senators and stars such as Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones to also be released.

New Vice Prez is the author of Rave Act

Joseph Biden is behind the controversial Rave Act

Few people know this but vice president Joseph Biden is also one of the personalities behind the controversial RAVE ACT. The former senator became infamous amongst nightlifers in 2002 when he tried to criminalize the carrying of items such as glow sticks and WATER at parties. Alone, Biden manipulated the Rave Act to become a law.

"Senator Joe Biden forced the controversial legislation commonly known as Rave Act in Congress, linking it to an issue of child abuse," reported the Drug Policy Alliance in 2004.

"The Rave Act gives the government more power to disrupt and arrest musicians, promoters, owners of clubs and fans of electronic music that are completely innocent - all in the name of war against drugs."
-Rolling Stone magazine

Already Glen Harlan Reynolds, commentator for Fox News, ridiculed the actions of anti-rave Biden in 2002. "When he introduced the Rave Act in July 2002, Biden said that 'most raves are a haven for illicit drugs', and items such as bottled water and glow sticks were found paraphernalia for drug use.' My three year old loves glow sticks and water!" Obama said on his website that what led to choosing Biden as his vice president was the fact he was a man "who makes things happen." Let's all hope he doesn't continue to make things like "The Rave Act" happen.
